Visit the home where internationally acclaimed author Carson McCullers grew up in beautiful Midtown Columbus. McCullers was born and raised in Columbus, and her experiences shaped her writing of classic novels like "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter," "Reflections in a Golden Eye," "The Member of the Wedding," and "The Ballad of the Sad Cafe." A tour of her childhood home grants you insight into not only McCullers' life and work but also provides you with an idea of Columbus in the first half of the twentieth century.
Located on a quiet residential street in the Wildwood Circle/Hillcrest historic district in Columbus, the Smith-McCullers House Museum is open to the public by appointment. Please try to give at least 24 hours advance notice when scheduling a tour. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person.
