Pioneers and innovators, Yonder Mountain String Band has defined a unique sound since their debut in fall 1998. For nearly 25 years, they've delivered their adventurous spirit from intimate venues to sold-out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Blending traditional bluegrass with influences from punk rock to the Grateful Dead, their extended improvisations, original songs across genres, and jam-band ethos have drawn a new generation to bluegrass.
Like any enduring band, Yonder Mountain has evolved. In 2014, they parted ways with Jeff Austin, who pursued his solo project until his passing in 2019. Their ninth studio album, released in late 2021, features founding members Adam Aijala (guitar), Ben Kaufmann (bass), Dave Johnston (banjo), alongside Allie Kral (fiddle, joined 2015) and Nick Piccininni (multi-instrumentalist).
Night after night on the road, this ensemble refines a dynamic sound that continually evolves and pushes boundaries.
