2018 Saltwater Highland Games & Heritage Festival: Celebrate Celtic Culture in Myrtle Beach

March 23-25, 2018: A Vibrant Weekend of Gaelic Culture

Heading to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this weekend? Don't miss the Saltwater Highland Games and Heritage Festival, a standout spring event blending fun, tradition, and Celtic heritage through music, athletics, and Scottish-Gaelic customs. Held the weekend after St. Patrick’s Day, it's a must-see for culture enthusiasts.

The festivities begin with a welcome party on Friday, March 23. The main festival runs Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Most events, excluding a popular whisky tasting (nearly sold out), take place at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, 150 Citizens Circle, Little River.

Highlighting the event are thrilling athletic competitions for men and women, featuring kilts and feats of strength like the Sheaf Toss, Braemar Stone Throw, Heavy Hammer Throw, and Clachneart (open stone) Throw. Beyond sports, enjoy the Clan Village, Celtic Marketplace, Kid’s Glen, live music and entertainment, food vendors, and beer/wine options.

Perfect for families, the Kid’s Glen offers face painting, games, activities, and more. Children over 6 receive a Saltwater Highland Games Passport to collect stamps at festival stops. Younger kids (under 6) can craft swords and shields or bounce in inflatables. Our team attended with young children and loved the family-friendly vibe.

This ticketed, educational event offers advance online purchase savings. Gate prices: $15 adults, $5 children; $10 for seniors, military, and students (ID required). Visit www.coastalhighlandgames.com for details and tickets.
