Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon Weekend: October 19-20, 2019 – Half Marathon, 5K & Doggie DashThe countdown is on for thousands of runners heading to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon, Coastal 5K, and Doggie Dash on October 19-20, 2019. This beloved half marathon draws crowds with its flat course, mild fall temperatures, and stunning coastal scenery. The weekend features three events suited for all skill levels: the Coastal 5K, Doggie Dash, and Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon.

The Coastal 5K (3.1 miles) kicks off from 6 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, at The Market Common. Runners enjoy a scenic loop through this charming village, finishing at Grand Park. Following shortly after, around 8:45 a.m., the Doggie Dash—a fun 1-mile run—welcomes dog owners of all ages with their pets. My husband and I look forward to this event every year, as all net proceeds support the Grand Strand Humane Society. Plus, the race photos with dogs dashing alongside are always memorable!

The highlight, the Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon (13.1 miles), runs from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, October 20. Starting at Coastal Grand Mall, the route heads down Robert Grissom Parkway, loops via 62nd Avenue North to North Ocean Boulevard, and finishes at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk (9th Avenue North). This surf-themed race offers finisher medals shaped like surfboards, live surf-style bands, a post-race beach party at Plyler Park, and over five miles of oceanfront running. It's one of the most picturesque race finishes on the Atlantic Coast (full disclosure: I'm a bit biased), and the nearby boardwalk and downtown access make it uniquely appealing.
