1st Annual Mix Off Bartending Competition at Tin Roof Myrtle Beach on October 26

Myrtle Beach, SC – On Saturday, October 26, Visit Myrtle Beach, in partnership with Tin Roof Myrtle Beach and Cocktail Artist®—a premium line of mixes and bar ingredients—will host an exhilarating evening of bartending challenges.

Local Myrtle Beach bartenders will compete in a high-stakes challenge, each paired with one of Cocktail Artist’s award-winning mixologists, vying for the grand prize. That same night, Cocktail Artist will crown the National Champion of the brand’s 1st Annual Mix Off Competition.

Finalists from Georgia, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Virginia will arrive to compete in a private national event at Tin Roof earlier that day. The Local Bartender Challenge kicks off at 8:00 p.m., with swag bags and giveaways for attendees (while supplies last).

Local media personality Amy Kawata will emcee the event. Esteemed judges include David Goodbread, General Manager of RipTydz Oceanfront Grille & Rooftop Bar; Elena King, Marketing Manager at Banditos Cantina; and Danny Gorman, General Manager at Banditos Cantina. Competitors for the grand prize are Bryan Bomar of Tin Roof; Seth Leonard of Hurricanes Daiquiri Bar and Grill; Jesse VanWagner of Hook & Barrel Restaurant; and Gibran Trujillo of Fire and Smoke Gastropub.

Amy Kawata, David Goodbread, and either Elena King or Danny Gorman will judge the morning’s closed national competition to name Cocktail Artist’s Mix Off Champion.

On Friday, October 25, also at Tin Roof, Cocktail Artist will offer complimentary samples of the national finalists’ winning entries to the first 200 guests. Visitors are invited to sample and vote for their favorite, with the “Fan Favorite” announced during Saturday’s Local Bartender Challenge.

It was a place where only the most daring of explorers would choose to go, so that became one of our primary goals; travel to Borneo, venture deep into the rainforest and seek out Orangutans in the wi

  • Castaway: A Fisherman s Fight for Survival on a Remote Coast

I’m a fisherman shipwrecked on a remote, merciless coastline. A scraggly beard, ripped clothes and glazed look in my eyes tell of hardship endured. Walking east is my only hope of returning to civilisation. Leech-infested rainforests, mountain ranges, swamps and raging rivers stand in the way. This is as far from home as I’ll ever be. I feel disconnected from real life and detached from normality, losing myself in a castaway daydream. But I haven’t really been washed ashore. I chose this ch
