Spotlight: Jack Minetti, Tempe's Exclusive Conference Concierge at Tempe Mission Palms

The Tempe Tourism Office collaborates with exceptional hospitality professionals who elevate guest experiences, share insights on Tempe attractions, and ensure seamless conferences.

We recently spoke with Jack Minetti, the dedicated Conference Concierge at Tempe Mission Palms Hotel in downtown Tempe. As Tempe's only Conference Concierge, Jack's genuine passion for people shines through in every interaction.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Jack moved to sunny Arizona in the 1980s and quickly entered the hospitality industry.

His Arizona career highlights include roles at InFlight Food Prep, the renowned Estelle’s Jazz Club, and Hyatt Regency as Lead Food Captain, where he earned multiple industry excellence awards.

In 1999, Jack joined Tempe Mission Palms as Lead Food Captain. Noticing guests' frequent questions during key events, he approached supervisor Cheryl Martin with a vision: “I want to help these people have a meaningful experience during their stay.”

Impressed by Jack's initiative and quick thinking, the hotel created the Conference Concierge position. Jack's goal is to make every conference or meeting flawless. He and the Tempe Mission Palms team meticulously handle details, anticipate challenges, verify perfect setups, and offer personalized recommendations for local attractions during downtime. Conveniently located in the conference area, Jack is always accessible.

Jack's essential tool? Communication. He excels at anticipating needs, which transforms guest experiences.

During one conference, as attendees returned from a break, Jack spotted a guest choking and swiftly applied his first-aid training to save the day. Years later, he still receives holiday cards from that grateful guest.

For aspiring hospitality professionals, Jack advises: “You must genuinely love interacting with people and delight in helping them however possible.”

What makes Tempe special? “Tempe has great energy and genuine character. Its residents, students, and business community infuse modern vibrancy into this charming Arizona city,” says Jack.

Planning a meeting at Tempe Mission Palms? Jack and his team will ensure its success. Stop by to say hello—it'll brighten your day.
