Orlando’s New Cultural Landmark: Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Opens

Explore the Dr. Phillips Center, Orlando’s newest cultural landmark.

Orlando’s cultural scene has just gained a world‑class venue with the grand opening of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown. The new flagship theater now puts Central Florida on the national map for live entertainment.

Designed to embody the city’s spirit, the Center blends imagination and innovation into a premier performance destination. From the moment visitors cross the “front porch” and behold the grand staircase, they are welcomed into a space that celebrates artistic excellence.

“We offer all kinds of music, a Broadway series, great jazz, fantastic comedy, and great family and children programs. Our goal is to make sure that the Dr. Phillips Center has something for everybody,” says CEO and President Kathy Ramsberger.

The centerpiece is the 2,700‑seat Walt Disney Theater, engineered for crystal‑clear sight lines and pitch‑perfect acoustics. Whether you’re seated in the front row or on the upper balcony, every seat delivers an exceptional experience.

For more intimate performances, the 300‑seat Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater provides a versatile, in‑the‑round setting. Its flexible stage and seating configurations allow the orchestra level to transform into a performance space or a private event venue.

Outside, the Seneff Arts Plaza on the “front lawn” hosts a rotating program of outdoor concerts, festivals, and community events, bringing diverse arts and culture to the public.

The Center encourages mingling before, during, and after shows. In the DeVos Family Room, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Orlando skyline while sipping from one of 13 on‑site cocktail bars.
