Dr. Phillips Center Unveils 2015-16 Broadway Season Lineup

Your guide to Orlando's 2015-16 Broadway season at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The new hub for live entertainment in downtown Orlando, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, has announced a lineup of touring shows for the 2015-16 Broadway in Orlando season. Taking center stage in the Walt Disney Theater will be Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella and The Sound of Music, along with modern favorites like Dirty Dancing and Kinky Boots, among other show-stopping performances.

Here's a look at the full line up of performances:

Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Nov. 10-15: The Tony Award-winning musical presents a contemporary take on the classic tale and features the pumpkin, the glass slipper and the masked ball, plus some new twists! The production, which does not parallel the Disney version, features original songs including "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible/It's Possible" and "Ten Minutes Ago."

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, Dec. 8-13: The classic holiday tale from Dr. Suess comes to life on stage. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small", decides to steal Christmas away from the joyful Whos. The production features the songs made famous in the 1966 television cartoon, including "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch."

The Sound of Music, Jan. 5-10, 2016: The final musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein comes to Orlando to share the classic story of the Von Trapp Family, their seven unruly children and the heroic nun, Maria von Trapp. The production includes the enduring songs: "Do-Re-Mi," "So Long, Farewell," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain."

Kinky Boots, Feb. 23-28, 2016: This Tony- and Grammy-winning production is a feel-good adaptation by Harvey Fierstein with songs written by pop star Cindy Lauper. It tells the story of Charlie Price, who inherits his father's struggling shoe factory and turns the business into a fashion success. The story, based on true events, explores the concepts of finding friendship, inspiration and passion where you least expect.

Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage, March 29-April 3, 2016: "Nobody puts baby in the corner" will be heard live on stage and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" will be performed during this telling of the 1987 Patrick Swayze-Jennifer Grey romance. Baby's life changes forever as she falls for a dance instructor during the annual family vacation at a remote resort in New York's Catskill Mountains.

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, May 3-8, 2016: This relatively new musical tells the true story of Carole King's remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. The production features King's hit songs, including, "Some kind of Wonderful," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling."
