Since its inception, SOLUNA has paired Dallas’s premier arts organizations with leading international artists to deliver culturally rich performances. The 2018 festival introduced a series of new commissions and world‑premiere works by top contemporary creators.

2020’s lineup includes several standout performances:

1. Caravan: A Revolution on the Road – April 9

This one‑night only performance tackles racial tension, injustice, and healing. Award‑winning jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard joins choreographer Rennie Harris and Dallas‑based visual artist Andrew F. Scott for a night of live music, dance, visual projections, sculpture, and projection mapping that examines how art can heal society. The event takes place at the Majestic Theatre.

2. Music and the Brain – April 17

Since SOLUNA’s launch, the Music and the Brain session has evolved with new research each year. This year, world‑renowned brain scientists and clinicians explore how music and art influence the brain and enhance human communication. The session is held at Moody Performance Hall.

3. Fabio Luisi Conducts the Dallas Symphony Orchestra – April 18 & 19

Following his appointment as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s music director, Fabio Luisi makes his inaugural SOLUNA podium appearance. The orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony along with pieces by Frank Martin and William Grant Still.

4. Jennifer Hudson with the Dallas Symphony – April 20

Grammy‑ and Academy Award‑winning vocalist Jennifer Hudson graces the Meyerson Symphony Center with a powerhouse program of her biggest hits, offering an unforgettable collaboration between pop and orchestral music.

5. Passport to the Park – April 27

Passport to the Park is a free, family‑friendly event that immerses visitors in a full day of culturally diverse performances and activities in Klyde Warren Park. Artists from across Dallas will perform and engage the community through visual art, dance, and music.
