The Ultimate Guys' Getaway: Epic Adventures in Santa Fe
Editor’s Note: This week, we feature a guest blogger sharing his firsthand account of a memorable guys’ trip to Santa Fe last spring.
Guys' group getaways have become a popular trend, and I'm often asked for destination recommendations. As a public service, here's my top pick for your next “broventure.” Last April, my friends and I chose Santa Fe—expecting a good time, but we discovered an outdoor paradise with exceptional cuisine and craft beers that exceeded our wildest expectations.
Outdoor Thrills and Lasting Memories in Santa Fe
Our adventure kicked off with endless options: fly fishing, mountain biking, or world-class skiing? With avid skiers in our group, we headed to Ski Santa Fe first. At the time, it boasted one of New Mexico's deepest snow bases—a skier's dream. We carved up the slopes that morning, then transitioned to golf as the day heated up. Santa Fe uniquely offers both in one trip.
We've enjoyed post-round drinks at the 19th hole before, and one friend is a scratch golfer. Santa Fe delivers for all levels via the Northern New Mexico Golf Trail's ten 18-hole courses, blending mountain and high-desert layouts with breathtaking views. A standout is Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe, just eight miles west of downtown. This premier public course rivals top country clubs, offering panoramic mountain vistas. We capped our round at The Links Bar & Grill, building quite a thirst.
Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe outshines other municipal courses.
Santa Fe's Craft Beer, Spirits, and Relaxed Vibes
Blue Corn Brewery crafts award-winning ales and authentic stacked enchiladas.
Next on our agenda: beer, the glue of great friendships. Santa Fe shines with craft brewpubs, starting at Blue Corn Brewery. We sampled flights featuring Atomic Blonde Lager, Roadrunner IPA, and Gold Medal Oatmeal Stout. Recent Great American Beer Festival medals confirm their excellence. Pair with stacked enchiladas or braised pork stew for genuine New Mexican flavors that redefine Mexican cuisine.
Santa Fe Spirits offers insightful distillery tours and tastings.
Fueled by beer and food, we elevated the evening at Santa Fe Spirits. Their small-batch lineup includes single-malt whiskey, gin, vodka, and brandy. The master distiller led our tour, followed by cocktail tastings—a perfect wind-down. We cabbed back to our hotel, the Inn of the Governors.
Prime Lodging at the Inn of the Governors
The Inn of the Governors’ heated pool provides ultimate relaxation.
Santa Fe boasts countless excellent hotels—a welcome dilemma. After reviewing options, we chose the Inn of the Governors for its central location and authentic adobe charm with fireplaces. Their complimentary “Mountain Sunrise Breakfast” features Southwestern scrambled eggs, apple-cured bacon, hashbrowns, and more—generous and high-quality.
Del Charro Saloon's red and green chile posole is unforgettable.
The Inn features the acclaimed Del Charro Saloon, voted Santa Fe's Best Bar by the Santa Fe Reporter. Enjoy oversized margaritas, local craft beers on tap, a rustic Old West ambiance, and sports on big screens. Menu highlights like Stuffed Green Chile Cheese Burger, Chipotle Wings, and Frito Pie serve hearty portions. Open until midnight daily.
Why Santa Fe is Ideal for Guys' Trips
Adventure calls in The City Different.
From skiing and mountain biking to golf, unique cuisine, craft brews, and live music, Santa Fe delivers invigorating experiences. You'll return refreshed. For your next guys' trip, choose Santa Fe.
