Discover Yellowfin Vodka Distillery: Sulphur's Artisanal Craft Spirit from Local Roots
In Southwest Louisiana, known as the festival capital of the state, celebrations are a way of life—from McNeese football tailgates to Mardi Gras festivities, a favorite cocktail is always in hand. When Sulphur native Jamison Trouth launched his handcrafted Yellowfin Vodka, locals eagerly raised a glass to this premium artisanal spirit.

“Yellowfin Tuna is native to our Gulf waters and is considered the crème de la crème, a delicacy, and so is Yellowfin Vodka,” explained Trouth as he poured a sample at the polished bar in his tasting room. The gleaming pot still was visible through the window behind the bar. “They are such a beautiful fish,” he continued, “and the quality of the meat is second to none. Just as fresh Yellowfin Tuna can be enjoyed rare or ‘neat,’ I enjoy my Yellowfin Vodka the same way—at room temperature with nothing added, not even ice.”

Trouth's passion for artisanal craft spirits shines through every step of the process. He sources 100% locally grown cane sugar from Southwest Louisiana, meticulously overseeing production from dissolving the sugar in purified water to hand-labeling each bottle. The result is a bright, creamy vodka ideal for mixing or sipping neat.

Since opening in April, Trouth sold out in under a week. “I've had visitors who say they don't usually drink vodka but love Yellowfin. Many vodka drinkers call it the best they've ever had,” he shared as I enjoyed my sample.
Yellowfin Vodka is available exclusively at the distillery for $25 including tax—not yet on store shelves. Take a tour, enjoy a tasting, and bring home Louisiana's newest craft spirit. Visit Yellowfin Distillery at 1716 E Burton Street in Sulphur. Follow on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
