The Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Tequisquiapan is located in the State of Querétaro, very close to the city of Santiago de Querétaro. This enchanting destination is famous for being a small town located in an area with hot springs.

 

If you are thinking of visiting this town, you can expect an utterly peaceful setting, ideal for taking a break from the daily grind and getting a breath of fresh air, where you can enjoy stunning blue skies and almost perfect weather.

 

Tequis, as it is known to locals and visitors, has a large offering of Water Parks, handicraft shops and hot-air balloon flights. What’s more, Tequisquiapan is part of the wine-producing region of the state of Querétaro, so you can also sample fine Mexican wine, thanks to the tastings offered at wineries in the area.

If you decide to spend a few days in the town, be sure to visit the picturesque Historical Center and Plaza Miguel Hidalgo, where gazing at the colonial architecture will transport you back in time. While you are walking about, why not visit the Mercado de Handicrafts de Tequisquiapan (Tequisquiapan Handicraft Market), where you can find lovely items made from ceramic, leather and opal, as well as woven fabrics and traditional baskets made of wicker and palm?

 

A visit to the Templo de Santa María de la Asunción (Church of St. Mary of the Assumption), in Tequisquiapan’s Historical Center, is a must. For a time-out from all your activities, Parque Recreativo La Pila (a recreational park) is the ideal spot, a peaceful haven surrounded by ahuehuete and sabino trees (species similar to the cypress), with activities for the whole family.
