Stunning Photos of Mantua, Italy: A UNESCO World Heritage Site to Inspire Your Visit
Mantua, Italy, is a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Lombardy region. These photos will inspire your next trip!
The Emilia-Romagna region boasts ancient cities like Bologna, Piacenza, Modena, and Parma. Basing yourself in Bologna makes it easy to explore these and nearby Lombardy. On my third day in Italy, I took a scenic two-hour train ride to historic Mantua in Lombardy.

Mantua's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is walkable from the train station. Renowned for its exceptional art and architecture, it's affectionately called La Bella Addormentata (Sleeping Beauty) by Italians for its medieval charm.
The best way to discover Mantua is by bicycle. I rented a beach cruiser and wandered map-free.

Locals sunbathed on grassy shores while fishermen waited patiently. As someone who prefers nature over crowds, I loved this city's relaxed pace.

When You Go:
Rent a bike for the ideal exploration, or enjoy a 1-2 hour boat cruise on Lago Superiore (April-October, ~10 Euros, no advance booking needed).
