Brookgreen Gardens Summer Lights Festival: Illuminated Magic in the Lowcountry Zoo

Brookgreen Gardens Summer Lights Festival: Illuminated Magic in the Lowcountry Zoo

From Thursday, May 24, through August 19, 2018, Brookgreen Gardens presents its inaugural Summer Lights Festival, transforming evenings into a mesmerizing display of light. Inspired by the renowned Night of a Thousand Candles, this event promises an enchanting experience amid the gardens' natural beauty.

Hosted in the Lowcountry Zoo, the festival showcases exquisite, larger-than-life silk lantern sculptures crafted by skilled Chinese artisans in the tradition of historic Chinese Lantern Festivals. Featuring native animals, insects, and plants, the exhibit is complemented by live music, Chinese paper cutting demonstrations, horoscope readings, local food trucks, and family-friendly activities.

Open Wednesday through Saturday evenings all summer, Brookgreen Gardens closes at 5 p.m. and reopens at 6:30 p.m. Festival hours are 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for children ages 4-12 (free for ages 3 and under). Brookgreen Gardens members enjoy a $5 discount. Advance purchase is required as only pre-sold tickets are available, and space is limited. Don't miss this after-hours adventure—secure your tickets on the Brookgreen Gardens website.
