World Amateur Handicap Championship: World's Largest Golf Event Tees Off in Myrtle Beach
The PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap Championship, recognized as the world's largest single-site golf tournament, is set to unfold next week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This premier event stands out for its inclusivity, welcoming players worldwide with a valid USGA handicap index or international equivalent.
From August 27 through August 30, 2018, competitors will tackle 72 holes across more than 60 of Myrtle Beach's acclaimed golf courses, including Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Tidewater, Barefoot Resort, Grande Dunes, and others. These venues, crafted by legendary architects such as Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Mike Strantz, and Rees Jones, promise an exceptional experience.
Over 3,000 golfers from all 50 U.S. states and at least 25 countries are expected to participate. The tournament's handicap system levels the playing field, uniting players with indexes ranging from +4.4 to 36.4 in a single, thrilling competition.
In addition to the on-course action, the World Am features 'The 19th Hole,' a vibrant nightly celebration at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Enjoy complimentary food and drinks for three hours each evening, plus appearances by golf luminaries like David Feherty, John Daly, Annika Sorenstam, Dave Pelz, and Charlie Rymer.
The 19th Hole offers an indoor par-3 challenge, a 60-foot putt contest, cornhole, arcade games, pool tables, dartboards, Golden Tee machines, golf simulators, and daily prize giveaways.
One-third of the Convention Center's main hall will showcase over 50 exhibitors, providing access to innovative training aids and golf gear not found elsewhere.
