54th World Championship Chili Cook-Off Rescheduled to September 17-19, 2021 in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Jan. 13, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After thorough discussions with Myrtle Beach officials and analysis of attendee needs, organizers of chili's premier annual event have rescheduled the 54th World Championship Chili Cook-Off (WCCC) to September 17-19, 2021.

"Chili enthusiasts are eager to return to cooking after a year of pandemic-related postponements," said Mike McCloud, President/CEO of MMA Creative, the WCCC producer. "We're excited too, but with ongoing COVID-19 challenges, April felt premature. After consulting local officials, sponsors, and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, a fall date offers the best path to success for all."

McCloud emphasized ensuring the event's debut in Myrtle Beach is a resounding success, allowing more time for national recovery and industry rebound.

"Travel restrictions persist in some areas, and large gatherings face limits. We have an exceptional event lined up with strong local support and aim to maximize participation in a safer environment," McCloud added.

"We're delighted to host chili fans nationwide for the World Championship Chili Cook-Off in Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand," said Karen Riordan, CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. "Fall brings ideal weather, open attractions, and stunning beaches."

The event remains at the Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place, centrally located in the Grand Strand overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Registered competitors with date conflicts should email vmarnick@icschili.com to withdraw; others will be automatically transferred to September.
