How to Support Hurricane Florence Flood Victims: Local Events, Donations & Volunteer Opportunities

Hurricane Florence spared the Grand Strand major damage but dumped over 11 trillion gallons of water across North and South Carolina, flooding many local communities. More than 1,000 homes have been inundated, with numerous beyond salvage. Many homeowners lack flood insurance, leaving flood victims in desperate need of community support.

Discover meaningful ways to help below, from attending events and purchasing t-shirts to donating supplies, volunteering, or giving cash. Every contribution is deeply valued by the Myrtle Beach area.

Through Thursday, September 27

Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse offers dinner buffets for $26.95 from Sunday, Sept. 23, through Thursday, Sept. 27. Rioz donates $5 per dinner to a local hurricane relief fund.

Through Sunday, October 7

Broadway at the Beach collects donations for Waccamaw VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster) for storm and flood relief. Drop off items daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Guest Services.

Grand Strand Magazine partners with Waccamaw VOAD to gather supplies for flood victims. Deliver items to their office at 4717 Jenn Dr., Ste. 102, Myrtle Beach, Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

SC Strong Run/Walk at Black Dog Running: Join a 1- to 4-mile group run/walk at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy food, refreshments, and raffle prizes worth over $2,000 (shoes, apparel, accessories, electronics, race entries). Donation tiers: $5 for 2 raffle tickets, $10 for 5, $20 for 12. Bid on silent auction items. 100% of proceeds benefit the ONE SC Fund for disaster recovery. Donate online here if unable to attend.
