On my second visit via Sun Country Airlines, I focused on key packing essentials for newcomers to Texas. These tips ensure comfort, appropriate attire for all adventures, and protection from the heat during a long weekend getaway.
- Cozy, layered travel wear for flights. Traveling from Minnesota to Austin involves a significant climate shift, so layers are essential. Avoid shorts on planes—opt for breathable leggings or jeans. My rule: Can I comfortably curl up in various positions in an airplane seat?
- Comfortable, versatile daytime outfits. Pair a flowy bohemian top with distressed, oversized denim shorts and air-dried, natural waves. Choose walkable, hike-friendly shoes like supportive sandals, perfect for city trails and moderate nature outings.
- Show-stopping evening looks. Pack statement pieces for the trip. Embrace the warm weather to show some skin—Austin's nightlife is electric, so aim to match or outshine it. Include a cocktail dress or a chic top with jeans and heels.
- Sun protection essentials. Bring straw hats for beaches, baseball caps for streets, broad-spectrum SPF 40+ sunscreen, protective makeup, and sunglasses to safeguard your skin.
- Stay hydrated with H2O. Drink extra water before and after your trip, and carry a reusable bottle on all excursions. Hydration is crucial in the Texas heat!
I prefer minimal packing, mirroring my life philosophy: less to manage means more freedom. Even for short stays, I unpack fully upon arrival to feel at home, then dive into exploring Austin's beauty.
