Disney’s Hollywood Studios Unveils Star Wars & Toy Story Lands in Orlando
Expanded Star Wars and Toy Story experiences are set to arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando.
If you’re a fan of the Force or eager to "go to infinity and beyond," get ready for a significant transformation at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. Two brand‑new lands—based on the iconic Star Wars saga and the beloved Toy Story franchise—are in development.
No official opening dates have been announced following Disney’s recent D23 fan convention.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Spanning 14 acres, this immersive land will transport guests to a galaxy far, far away. Key attractions include:
- Star Wars: The Rise of the Resistance – An epic adventure that places you at the heart of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance, as described by Disney CEO Bob Iger.
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – A thrilling flight‑simulation that lets guests pilot the legendary Falcon on a secret mission.
Guests will dine and relax in restaurants and lounges authentically modeled after scenes from the films, staffed by costumed characters that bring the intergalactic world to life.
While construction is underway, the park is rolling out several attractions for an earlier debut this year:
- Star Wars Launch Bay – An interactive experience that delves into the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the first six films of the saga.
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – An updated ride featuring new adventures, locations, and characters from The Force Awakens.
- Season of the Force – A seasonal event starting early 2016, offering fresh experiences and a fireworks show set to the iconic Star Wars score on weekend evenings.
Toy Story Land
Spanning 11 acres, this new land invites guests to step into Andy’s backyard, where life‑size versions of Buzz, Woody, and friends come alive. Highlights include:
- Slinky Dog Roller Coaster – A family‑friendly coaster that zips, zooms, and plunges through a toy‑filled adventure on Slinky Dog’s back.
- Alien Swirling Saucers – A spinning ride that lets guests experience a flying saucer from the perspective of the iconic green aliens, all while watching "The Claw" loom overhead.
- Toy Story Mania! – An existing attraction in Pixar Place expanded with an additional track.
