Explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – The Ultimate Adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Orlando
Immerse yourself in the Star Wars universe at Galaxy’s Edge, Disney’s Hollywood Studios® in Orlando. (© Disney & ™ Lucasfilm Ltd.)
For more than four decades, I’ve proudly carried my Star Wars fandom, from the original 1977 release of Episode IV — A New Hope to every sequel that followed. I’ve collected action figures, apparel, posters, comics, and even a lightsaber—plus I interviewed Mark Hamill—but I never actually stepped into the galaxy—until now.
With the grand opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, you can finally live the adventure you’ve only dreamed of. Below, I break down what you can expect—from rides and merchandise to dining—and why this new land is a must-visit for any Star Wars fan.

Welcome to Black Spire Outpost
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is an expansion that transports you straight to the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu—a critical waypoint on the Outer Rim. Walt Disney Imagineering has recreated Batuu’s architecture, soundscape, and atmosphere with remarkable authenticity, allowing visitors to encounter Resistance heroes, First Order villains, droids, and, of course, the legendary Millennium Falcon.
With intricate details and a maze of paths, a single day may leave you feeling you’ve only scratched the surface. That’s the charm: there’s always more to discover, making each return a fresh experience.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run gives guests the chance to pilot, engineer, or gunner the galaxy’s most iconic ship. The attraction’s core strength lies in its interactive design—your crew’s performance directly influences the mission outcome. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or a first‑time flyer, every seat offers a thrilling experience.
I’ve personally taken on all three roles, and none feel inferior. While prior gaming experience can help, the intuitive controls and Disney Cast Member guidance ensure everyone can enjoy the adventure.
Since December 2019, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has added another layer of immersion. In this “most ambitious attraction” according to Imagineering’s Scott Trowbridge, you join the Resistance and face a Star Destroyer’s clutches. The experience combines cutting‑edge motion simulation, animatronics, and narrative to deliver the full spectrum of Star Wars excitement.
Between the Falcon runs, the Resistance mission, and exploration of Black Spire’s shops, the Star Wars: Datapad feature on the Play Disney Parks app extends interactivity—allowing you to translate alien languages, scan cargo, decrypt messages, and even hack devices—all without restraint.
Custom Lightsabers, Astromechs, and More
Fans have cherished Star Wars since the 1976 novelization, and Galaxy’s Edge offers fresh ways to add to your collection. Savi’s Workshop lets you craft a high‑quality lightsaber—choose a hilt theme (Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, Protection and Defense), sleeves, emitter, pommel cap, and activation plates. Reservations are available up to 180 days in advance.
Enhance your blade at Dok‑Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, run by the Ithorian master. While customizing, explore every corner of the outpost—you’ll discover unexpected surprises.
At Droid Depot, you can assemble BB‑ and R‑Series astromechs with customizable domes, bodies, legs, and accessories. Like Savi’s Workshop, reservations up to 180 days ahead are recommended.
Other retail gems include Toydarian Toymaker, Creature Stall, and Black Spire Outfitters. For faction‑specific gear, visit First Order Cargo or Resistance Supply. All shops feature Aurebesh signage, and the Datapad’s translation helps you navigate the galaxy’s lexicon.
Refreshments from Blue Milk to Ronto Wraps
After a day of exploration, the new land offers several ways to satisfy both appetite and thirst. The Milk Stand serves blue and green plant‑based milks with fruity or citrus flavors; adults can add Bacardi Rum (blue) or Corazon Blanco Tequila (green) to create Milk Coolers.
For cocktail lovers, Oga’s Cantina delivers a galaxy‑inspired menu—Jedi Mind Trick, Dagobah Slug Slinger, T‑16 Skyhopper—and non‑alcoholic options. The venue’s décor immerses guests among bounty hunters and smugglers.
Fuel up at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or grab a Ronto Wrap at Ronto Roasters. Sweet‑savory Outpost Mix is available at Kat Saka’s Kettle for a quick snack.
Beyond Galaxy’s Edge: More Star Wars Experiences at Hollywood Studios
While Galaxy’s Edge is the newest Star Wars attraction, Hollywood Studios also hosts Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Star Wars Launch Bay, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, March of the First Order, and Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away live shows. The nightly Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular blends projection, lasers, lighting, and pyrotechnics for an unforgettable finale.
Plan your next visit—or take a guided tour—to experience all the Force‑filled moments Disney has to offer. May the Force be with you!
