Walt Disney World Resort Announces Official Rebranding of Downtown Disney to Disney Springs®

Walt Disney World Resort has officially rebranded its bustling dining, shopping, and entertainment district—formerly known as Downtown Disney—to Disney Springs®. This move marks a new chapter for the iconic destination, bringing fresh culinary experiences and expanded entertainment options to guests.

With a multi‑year expansion underway, Disney Springs® now boasts new highlights, including the launch of Morimoto Asia and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. These additions set a higher standard for dining in Orlando, blending culinary excellence with immersive themes.

Note: Depending on the timing of your visit, some attractions may be temporarily modified or closed. For current operating status and healthy travel guidance, check Disney’s official resources or contact individual venues.

Morimoto Asia

Celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto—famed for his appearances on Iron Chef and Iron Chef America—has opened Morimoto Asia, a two‑story restaurant in the former Pleasure Island nightclub district. The menu marries Western techniques with classic Asian flavors, featuring dishes such as Peking duck carving, dim sum, and fresh sushi.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

Embracing an aviation theme inspired by the Indiana Jones franchise, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar offers guests a unique lounge experience. Staff, dressed in period attire, joke that “ancient artifacts are not an accepted form of payment.” The bar presents signature cocktails and small plates themed after each original film, providing a playful yet sophisticated atmosphere.

Upcoming Attractions

In 2016, Disney Springs will continue to expand with the opening of the modern steakhouse STK and the Industrial Gothic‑style restaurant and bar, The Edison. Upon completion, the district will feature nearly 150 venues—doubling from today’s 70—across more than 1 million square feet, delivering an unparalleled mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment.
