Orlando: A Premier LGBTQ+ Destination for Inclusive Travel

See why our welcoming nature, world‑class experiences and LGBTQ+ celebrations — including Gay Days and related events — continue to make Orlando a top destination for everyone.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Orlando is the kind of destination where everyone is welcome. Its popularity among LGBTQ+ travelers stems from a blend of open, inclusive culture and a lineup of world‑class attractions, dining, nightlife, shopping, arts, and outdoor adventures. Enhanced health and safety measures give guests confidence as they explore all that the city offers.

With its unique mix of unforgettable adventures and vibrant contemporary nightlife, Orlando earned the first-ever “City of the Year” title from GayCities.com and scored a perfect 5.0 on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index, which measures the inclusiveness of a city’s laws, policies and services. Read on to discover the events and experiences that make Orlando a must‑visit destination.

Please note: Depending on the timing of your visit, some experiences may be temporarily modified or closed. Learn more about healthy travel and what’s open in Orlando, and check with your favorite attractions for their current status.

Top LGBTQ+ Events in Orlando

Orlando’s calendar is packed with high‑quality events all year long, from theme‑park celebrations to holiday festivals, food tastings, and more. Everyone is invited. The highlight, however, begins each year on the first weekend in June with the world‑renowned Gay Days Orlando.

Gay Days Orlando (June 1‑7, 2021) has grown over nearly 30 years into one of the largest pride celebrations worldwide, featuring a full slate of ancillary events. The first weekend also hosts RED Shirt Pride Day (June 5, 2021), One Magical Weekend (postponed until June 2‑6, 2022), Girls in Wonderland (postponed to Oct 14‑18, 2021), and the Tidal Wave Party (postponed to June 2022).

One Magical Weekend is among the globe’s largest LGBTQ+ pride and music festivals, drawing world‑class performances and internationally renowned DJs to Orlando’s tourism district. Girls in Wonderland, a sister event, caters specifically to women in the LGBTQ+ community, offering celebrity appearances, special performances, and lavish parties. The Tidal Wave Party brings a series of pool parties across multiple venues, adding to the weekend’s excitement.

On June 12, Orlando and the world observe a day of remembrance for the 49 lives lost in the 2016 Pulse tragedy. Check back for details about memorial services in 2021 and the related CommUNITY Rainbow Run, which honors those impacted.

Don’t miss Come Out With Pride Orlando, scheduled for Oct 9, 2021. Held around downtown’s scenic Lake Eola Park, this nonprofit celebration invites residents and visitors alike to support Orlando’s LGBTQ+ community.

Top LGBTQ+ Experiences in Orlando

Orlando’s reputation as an LGBTQ+ tourism pioneer extends beyond its events. Here are additional reasons to visit:

Unforgettable Live Entertainment

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, located in downtown Orlando, hosts Broadway shows, ballet, national headliners, and more. Named by Travel + Leisure as one of its “25 New Tourist Attractions Worth Adding to Your Bucket List,” it remains a cultural highlight. Nearby, SAK Comedy Lab offers improv comedy with audience participation—an ideal spot for spontaneous laughter.

For a lively night out, Mango’s Tropical Café on International Drive offers Latin rhythms, world‑famous Mango’s Dancers, and a vibrant dance floor—all within minutes of major theme parks.

Electric Nightlife

In the North Orange district, Savoy Orlando welcomes guests with themed nights like Flashback Fridays and Martini Mondays, and its Starlite Room hosts stand‑up, music, and cabaret acts. Southern Nights delivers drag nights and Florida’s top‑rated Saturday‑night celebration for lesbians, GIRL The Party.

Stonewall Bar, originally a single‑story gay bar, now features a sky bar, video bar, patio, and onsite restaurant. Adjacent to downtown’s Lake Eola Park, Stardust Lounge offers an underground vibe with retro décor. For a more intimate setting, Hank’s Bar has been a local favorite for 30 years, complete with pool tables, a jukebox, and a private patio. BarCodes Orlando offers a value‑packed atmosphere for meeting new friends, while The Hammered Lamb provides a lively pub experience with superb food.

The Pulse Interim Memorial

Located at the former Pulse nightclub site near downtown Orlando, this temporary memorial honors a hopeful future where everyone can live their truth in a world of love, unity, acceptance, courage, and strength. A permanent museum will replace it in the coming years. The memorial is free to visit, open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with extended hours during Remembrance Week and select holidays.
