Beyond Orlando’s theme parks, Wekiva Island in Longwood offers a serene, spring‑fed river filled with wildlife—turtles, birds and more—making it an ideal eco‑friendly escape.

A Getaway Dream

Just a 30‑minute drive north of Orlando, Wekiva Island blends natural beauty with comfort. Each private cabana comes equipped with Adirondack chairs, a cozy couch, storage, and a coffee table—so you can relax without moving an inch. Order food and drinks from your cabana all day, including local favorites like beef brisket, gator tacos, and a selection of craft beers.

Outdoor Activities

Choose from canoes, kayaks, and stand‑up paddleboards to glide along the scenic Wekiva River and spot local marine life. Rental rates are:

  • Paddleboards: $40/day (or $35 after 12 p.m., $30 after 4 p.m.)
  • Canoes & single kayaks: $30/day (or $25 afternoon)
  • Double kayaks: $35/day (or $30 afternoon)

After a day on the water, challenge friends to volleyball or cornhole. Beach volleyball courts are available for rent—reserve in advance.

Get Ready to Eat

The Tooting Otter, a general store and wine bar, offers craft beers, charcuterie boards, and snacks. Happy hour runs 5–7 p.m. daily, with beer and wine $1 off the regular price.

During winter, enjoy a fire pit for marshmallow roasting. The park also hosts “Firepit Friday” events featuring live music and themed dinners.

Before You Leave

Conclude your visit with a stroll along the boardwalk, sit in the Adirondack chairs, and soak in the surroundings. Throughout the year, Wekiva Island hosts live music, painting workshops, and wine events—there’s always something new to discover.
