Budweiser Clydesdales Arrive at Texas State Fair—Meet the Majestic Horses
The Texas State Fair will host a special stable exhibit featuring the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales for all 24 days. Below are some fascinating facts about these majestic horses.
What’s the story behind the Clydesdales? The Budweiser Clydesdales, celebrated in Super Bowl ads, were introduced in 1933 to honor the repeal of Prohibition. Since then, they have toured the nation at fairs, parades, and special events. They belong to the Anheuser‑Busch family, the brewery behind Bud Light, Budweiser, Shock Top, Landshark Lager, and more.
What makes these horses special? These gentle giants are truly majestic. To join the hitch team, a Clydesdale must be at least four years old, stand six feet at the withers, and weigh between 1,800 and 2,300 pounds. They consume up to 25 quarts of whole grains and 60 pounds of hay daily to maintain their stature. Off‑road, they reside at Anheuser‑Busch breweries in Missouri, New Hampshire, and Colorado.
What can you experience at the fair? Visitors can view the horses up close and interact with Clydesdales experts who will answer questions and demonstrate how the horses are hitched to the iconic red wagon. Fans will also meet Clyde, the Clydesdales’ Dalmatian mascot.
