Top 3 Reasons to Attend SOWELA's Flying Tigers Car Show and Support Student Scholarships
Classic cars and higher education may seem unrelated, but at SOWELA Technical Community College, they converge to propel student success forward.

On Saturday, April 23, the SOWELA Foundation hosts the Flying Tigers Car Show, with all proceeds funding student scholarships. SOWELA's enrollment has grown to over 3,700 students—many balancing full- or part-time jobs and family duties. The Foundation aims to raise $30,000 to ease these financial burdens.

As a recent Louisiana resident, I've experienced Southwest Louisiana's renowned hospitality firsthand. Add in delicious food, live music, and stunning vehicles, and you've got an event that's truly worth your time.

Here are three compelling reasons to mark your calendar for this year's Flying Tigers Car Show:
- Campus Exploration - Discover SOWELA's expansion, including new facilities and programs tailored to student and industry needs. Program representatives will showcase degrees, certificates, diplomas, and certifications with live demonstrations and details.
- Exciting Competition – The first 100 registrants receive custom coasters, and all vehicle entrants can compete for unique, handcrafted car-part trophies.
- Meaningful Cause – Amid shifts in TOPS funding and higher education support, your involvement—whether registering a vehicle or attending—directly aids community members in achieving their career dreams while enjoying a fun day out.
