Archive
You can almost hear angels singing when you stroll into Archive, the beer menu is that heavenly. West End’s trendy set loves to gravitate here for the huge range of brews on offer. The tap line-up is awesome, and Byron Bay's Stone & Wood range takes up a fair bit of real estate. Start with a Stone & Wood Pacific Ale, then dive into the rest.
Brewski
Fancy a Brewski? Us too. This super laid-back bar on Caxton St always has some compelling craft options on tap but, for something a little different, have a go at the Red Duck Saison. The food here is pretty special, too (crispy Kewpie mayo-topped chicken burger anyone?).
Super Whatnot
A cool name deserves a cool beer and that’s what you’ll find at Burnett Lane’s Super Whatnot. Rare, exotic craft beer is the order of the day here, so try a Moo Brew Belgo, a crisp Tassie beer that will transport you to the island itself.
Tippler’s Tap
South Bank sounds like a superb spot for a tipple or two, so check out Tippler’s Tap. There are a fair few beers here you're unlikely to find anywhere else in the city but our pick is the Feral Brewing Company's Smoked Porter. From the tap, of course.
The Scratch Bar
In the shadow of that other big pub at Milton (XXXX anyone?), this unpretentious craft beer bar has a huge following and you'll find plenty of loyal locals at the bar. Hook into one of Brisbane's best, a Green Beacon Wayfarer USA.
Embassy Craft Beer Bar
The relaxed atmosphere matches the finely crafted brews at the Embassy, with plenty of frothy goodness on offer. If you're after something with a bit of kick, grab a Sierra Nevada Hoptimum Imperial and sip slowly.
Mr Edward's Alehouse
Grab some mates, a spot at a table and order a growler of Coopers Artisan Reserve Pilsner (Mr Edward's uses growlers instead of jugs - no takeways).
Bitter Suite
New Farm’s Bitter Suite has seven taps (eight if they get the hand pump going) and more than 60 bottled brands on offer, so keen suds sippers are spoilt for choice.
Kerbside Bar
Kerbside at Fortitude Valley came to fruition about the same time as the craft beer craze, so its stock of more than 200 beers and ciders is well researched and tested. Drop in for the funky locale, stay for a Burleigh Brewing Co Hefeweizen wheat beer.
