Bermuda's wild nature trails, lush gardens, and inviting beaches offer unforgettable adventures for you and your dog. With careful preparation, bringing your pet along is simple and rewarding.

From Spittal Pond Nature Reserve to the subtropical Botanical Gardens and adjacent Arboretum, walks with your furry companion become extraordinary. Try jogging the scenic Railway Trail spanning the island or exploring miles of sandy shores—beaches welcome dogs from November to April. Your dog will thrive here just as much as you do.

Requirements for Bringing Dogs to Bermuda from the US and Canada

  • Bermuda Import Permit: Required by the Bermuda Government from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Apply through your local veterinarian.
  • Health Certificate: Issued within 10 days of arrival by a licensed vet, identifying the dog by name, breed, sex, age, and color. Must confirm no communicable diseases or external parasites.
  • Microchip: Implanted and readable by a standard scanner.
  • Pest Control Statement: Vet confirmation of treatment with acaricidal preparation against ticks on the day of examination.
  • Rabies Vaccination Certificate: Proof the dog hasn't been exposed to rabies or in a quarantined area in the last six months, plus history of at least two vaccinations. Dogs under 10 months or with only one vaccination do not qualify.

If unsure about vaccinations, fax your dog's full history to the Department of Environmental Protection (Animal Husbandry: +1 (441) 236-7582; Animal Imports: +1 (441) 232-0046) or email: denr.ah@gov.bm.

Dogs arriving directly from the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or Jamaica do not require rabies vaccination.

Visit the Bermuda Government website for full details and breed restrictions.
