Master Your First Hour in Bermuda: Essential Arrival Guide

Your Bermuda vacation is underway! Fresh off the plane at L.F. Wade International Airport, follow this straightforward guide to navigate arrival smoothly and start enjoying pink-sand beaches and Rum Swizzles in no time.

Prepare the Proper Documents

All travelers need a valid passport and proof of a return or onward ticket, including children and infants.

Complete the online Bermuda travel authorisation process within 48 hours before arrival.

Fill out a Customs Traveller Declaration (CTD) form, provided on the plane or at immigration. One form covers your family group—no need for young children.

If extending your stay, submit a Visitors Extension Application.

Note: Since 2014, tourist and business visitors, as well as work permit holders, no longer require entry visas or waivers.

Understand Island Time

Bermuda operates on Atlantic Time (GMT-4), one hour ahead of Eastern US time, two ahead of Central, four ahead of Pacific, four behind London, and five behind Munich. Adjust quickly and embrace 'island time.'

Clear Customs and Baggage

After collecting luggage, choose the green 'GO' lane if no customs declaration is needed, or 'STOP' if required. This brief check prevents prohibited items from entering.

For details on allowable items, visit our Customs Regulations page.

Money Matters

The Bermuda dollar (BMD) equals the US dollar (USD), both symbolized by $. Both currencies are accepted, but change is given in BMD.

Reach Your Accommodations

No rental cars here—Bermuda limits vehicles to one per household to reduce pollution on our compact island. Hail a taxi curbside; drivers are friendly locals ready to share tips on culture, sights, and dining.
