Le Rêve, meaning "the dream" in French, truly lives up to its name. Upon arriving at the serene outdoor lobby, I was immediately welcomed by attentive, friendly staff, setting a tone of instant tranquility.
Unlike the sprawling all-inclusive family resorts common in Riviera Maya, Le Rêve is an intimate adults-only retreat designed for romantic escapes, honeymoons, or destination weddings.
What makes it ideal for couples? Its strict no-children policy (except when hosting a wedding and reserving all rooms), ensuring peace throughout.
The resort's quiet vibe around the pool, beach, and common areas comes from this policy, its modest size of just 25 rooms, and its secluded location. It's common to enjoy the pool or beach loungers in complete privacy.
Not all-inclusive, but the on-site restaurant demands repeat visits. Expect exceptional cuisine: pesto pasta with shrimp, inventive soups, the freshest ceviche, and steaks grilled to perfection.
Breakfast spans traditional Mexican dishes like huevos rancheros (a standout), chilaquiles, and enchiladas suizas, plus classics such as bacon and eggs on a bagel, fruit plates, and French toast.
Ceviche enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice with options like jicama, tuna martini, white fish, octopus, Le Rêve (octopus, sea bass, shrimp, avocado), sea scallop, beef, and margarita ceviche (sea bass and shrimp in citrus-tequila marinade).
Lunch shrimp tacos drew rave reviews from guests. My dinner favorites: creamy scallop risotto, grilled shrimp Caesar salad, and Kahlúa flan dessert.
Meals shine even more with ocean views—or book a romantic private dinner on the beach.
