What to Expect at Dr. Joe Dispenza's Week-Long Meditation Retreat: Insider Tips from a Two-Time Attendee

Having attended two of Dr. Joe Dispenza's week-long meditation retreats, I'm sharing my firsthand insights, tips, and preparation advice to help you make the most of the experience.

My journey with Dr. Joe's work began two years ago when transformational speaker Kyle Cease shared a video of Dr. Joe explaining why changing habits is so challenging. His scientific insights into brain function and the subconscious mind's role in sabotaging change resonated deeply with me.

For years, I knew reprogramming my subconscious was key to breaking unhealthy habits, but traditional methods like hypnotherapy, meditation, plant medicine, and affirmations provided limited results. My conscious and subconscious minds felt worlds apart.

Attending my first week-long retreat in Vancouver, Canada, unlocked what was holding me back. The profound shifts inspired me to book a second retreat six months later—for my 40th birthday—convincing my partner Scott and sister to join.

What to Expect

Dr. Joe offers various events: one-day workshops, Progressive Retreats, cruises, advanced week-long retreats, and follow-ups. I've attended a one-day event and two advanced week-long retreats.

Events evolve, so no two are identical, but here's a reliable overview for week-long retreats with 800–2,500 participants.

Team Assignments

Weeks before the event, you'll receive your team leader and team name via email (e.g., Team Caribou in Vancouver, Team Marigold in Portland). Teams vary by event.

If traveling with others, let the quantum field decide team assignments. Scott and I weren't paired but ended up together anyway, yet chose not to sit side-by-side to maximize growth and connections.

Teams foster intimacy—you bond with members and leaders during daily end-of-day meetings for announcements, sharing, and Q&A.

The Schedule

Expect the unexpected—no advance schedule. Embrace flexibility: days may start at 3 a.m. and end at 7 p.m., begin at 6 a.m., or run all night. Breaks, breakfast, and lunch are scheduled; time flies with lectures and meditations.

Meditations

Meditations vary but typically include Blessing of the Energy Centers, extended Pineal Gland sessions (4+ hours), Kaleidoscope, and walking meditations.

Meals

Buffet-style breakfast and lunch (plus break drinks) are included most days—healthy, light options abound, offsetting costs since only dinner is extra.

Lodging

Events are at hotels with blocked rooms that fill fast. On-site is convenient but pricey; many opt for nearby options. In Vancouver, I used Airbnb; in Portland, a hotel 5 minutes away—both under half the host hotel rate.

Costs

Week-long retreats cost $1,899 (hotel excluded).

What to Pack

Sleep Mask: Essential for meditations. This comfortable, affordable option is my top pick.

Yoga Mat: Ideal for floor comfort. Choose a compact, strap-equipped travel mat.

Blanket: A soft, warm travel blanket combats room chill.

Comfortable Clothes: Layer up with yoga pants, sweatshirts, etc.

Challenge Exercises

Dr. Joe's retreats stand out with innovative exercises to overcome bodily resistance and stay heart-centered amid distractions—practicing with eyes open for real-life application. Details are surprises to enhance the unknown.

My Transformational Experiences

My first retreat focused on release: letting go, overcoming the body, and processing decades-old emotions. Freshly aware of childhood trauma, I confronted fears and darkness, feeling terror, love, and liberation.

Daily home practice followed, leading to heart-opening at retreat two. Massive energy shifts caused outer-world upheaval and exhaustion as old circumstances mismatched my vibration. Grieving the familiar was tough, but now I trust life's flow.

Six months post-second event, I'm transformed: endless possibilities, excitement for life, inner gratitude over external chasing. Dr. Joe's science-spirituality blend has empowered thousands.

Ongoing Support & Integration

Post-retreat support shines: team WhatsApp groups, active Facebook community with monthly Dr. Joe Lives. Seek local groups—we found a vibrant San Diego one that's become family.

Dr. Joe Dispenza retreats deliver—no regrets. Though tickets are scarce, abundance prevails!
