Chalk the Walk, Live Music & More: Friday in the 'Fonte on July 30th in Bellefonte

Friday in the 'Fonte is a free summertime event celebrating Bellefonte's vibrant shopping, dining, craft beverages, and local culture. Held on the last Friday of May, June, July, and September, this July edition brings downtown to life with Chalk the Walk artwork on High, Allegheny, and Spring Streets. Residents, families, businesses, and organizations create colorful chalk squares in this fundraiser supporting Downtown Bellefonte Inc.

Chalk the Walk, Live Music & More: Friday in the  Fonte on July 30th in Bellefonte

Participants can buy one or more $25 squares to design from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday (supplies provided). At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, judges award prizes in Family/Children, Business/Organization, and Individual categories. Need more space? Buy adjacent squares for larger murals!

New this year: People's Choice Award voted by social media followers. Winners announced on Downtown Bellefonte Inc.'s Facebook page the following week. Supplies courtesy of Bellefonte Art Museum. Register and collect chalk at the Downtown Bellefonte Inc. table near the Library and Historical Museum (Friday 4 p.m.) or Bellefonte SpringBoard (127 S. Allegheny St., Saturday).

Howard Street buzzes with artisans and live music from Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats (sponsored by Blink and Bellefonte.com). Savor grilled chicken and burgers from URBN Flavourhaus, takeout from downtown favorites, craft beverages from Big Spring Spirits and Axemann Brewery. Portfolio A Salon offers free makeup/hair consultations, hand massages, product discounts, and pre-booked appointment deals. Join Local Historia's free historic walking tours at 5, 6, and 7 p.m. Participate in the Shop Small Crawl: Buy a Bellefonte tote and collect buttons at local shops.

Head to the Children's Garden behind the Historical Museum for a Master Gardeners/Garden Club scavenger hunt, night pollinators lesson, and nature bracelet crafting (5-7 p.m.). Full of Hot Air twists balloon animals for kids. 'Rock artists' paint stones with positive messages to form a community path (supplies from Nature’s Cover and Bellefonte Art Museum).
