Penn State Homecoming Announces Brian Patchcoski as 2021 Honorary Grand Marshal
Assistant VP of DEI for Student Affairs Selected as 2021 Honorary Grand Marshal
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – September 28, 2021 — Penn State Homecoming has named Brian Patchcoski as the 2021 Honorary Grand Marshal. The announcement was officially unveiled on Friday, September 24, via a video on the Penn State Homecoming website.
The Honorary Grand Marshal recognizes an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to the local community, achieved notable success in their field, and exemplifies the core values of Penn State Homecoming.
Brian Patchcoski was appointed assistant vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in Penn State Student Affairs on January 18, 2021. Previously, he served as director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity.
Patchcoski shared that this year’s Homecoming theme, "Together State Prevails," holds enduring relevance beyond 2021.
Patchcoski oversees the following offices:
- Adult Learner Programs and Services
- Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity
- Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development
- Collegiate Recovery Community
- Gender Equity Center
- Paul Robeson Cultural Center
Patchcoski earned his master’s degree in higher education from Penn State and his bachelor’s degree in counseling and human services from the University of Scranton. He lives in State College with his husband Greg, their twins Declyn and Keegyn, and their two dogs.
