Most Adventurous Travel Experience

My recent solo trek along Greenland's Arctic Circle Trail from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimiut. In this true wilderness, over eight days I encountered more reindeer than people, glimpsed the Northern Lights, battled storms and river crossings, and camped on a pristine beach, awed by utter silence far from any civilization.

Tip for Leading an Adventurous Life

Adventures can be big or small. Despite my full-time job, I squeeze them into evenings and weekends. Stay prepared: keep a 'go-bag' packed for overnight camps. When the perfect weather or escape calls, grab it and go. Pack yours today.

Most Adventurous Travel Experience

In 1996, after spotting an unnamed peak in Tibet’s Nyainqentanglha Mountains from a 1982 flight, I pursued it despite setbacks like the 1989 Tiananmen protests. Armed with one photo and a local guide, we trekked four days across rugged terrain to Sepu Kangri above a sacred lake. The thrill of discovery was unmatched.

If admiring miniature 13-inch, three-pound penguins, a glowering hammerhead shark, and some very friendly hippos sounds like fun, head over to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden to spend a few hours amongst these and other aquatic residents. Informally known as the Philadelphia or Philly Aquarium (due to its proximity to the cheesesteak capital of the world), the Adventure Aquarium is bursting with sea life from around the world in extravagant exhibits and massive glass tanks. It serves as a remin

  • Discover Adventure’s Home: The Summit of Pointe de Cray

Sometimes you have to begin at the end. In this case: at the summit of Pointe de Cray, above Château-d’Œx, surrounded by countless peaks, bathing in the last beams of sun on a warm September day. ‘I used to climb these mountains,’ the old man at the Alpine hut had said on our way up. He had built the cabin with his own hands, and the big terrace still serves him a view of the summits that he no longer climbs. From his wooden bench, he was able to name all the mountains around him. And now, t
