Summer 2016: Fresh Rides, Shows, and Dining at Walt Disney World

See what's coming to Walt Disney World Resort this summer 2016.

Walt Disney World® Resort awakens in the summer with brand‑new attractions, immersive shows, celebrity chef restaurants, and chic shopping. New details reveal what guests can look forward to across the resort.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios®

The Star Wars saga comes alive with a nighttime fireworks display that debuted in June, featuring lasers, special effects and video projections spanning the entire saga.

The First Order takes over the park with a stormtrooper procession led by Captain Phasma, and guests can meet Kylo Ren inside the Star Wars Launch Bay.

Experience the Force in a live stage show, Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away, showcasing classic movie moments and beloved characters such as Chewbacca, BB‑8, R2‑D2, C‑3PO, Kylo Ren, Darth Vader and Darth Maul.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park

Nighttime entertainment begins Memorial Day weekend, including a projection show on the Tree of Life with dynamic visuals and sounds, and a limited‑engagement performance on the Discovery River based on Disney’s new film, "The Jungle Book".

Kilimanjaro Safaris extends into the night, offering enhanced sunset and moon‑glow lighting, new nocturnal animals such as hyenas and African wild dogs, and a fresh nighttime experience.

Later this summer, the Rivers of Light show will crown the day and night at Animal Kingdom, featuring a high‑tech water procession and animal spirits transforming from oceans and jungles to constellations.

Epcot®

The Norway Pavilion becomes home to Queen Elsa and Princess Anna. Guests enter the kingdom of Arendelle via a new boat ride to Elsa’s ice palace, then meet the royal sisters in the Royal Sommerhus, a traditional Norwegian cabin.

From June 17, the Soarin’ Around the World experience at The Land Pavilion expands with a third theater, offering a broader aerial tour of the world’s wonders.

In early May, Dory joins the Turtle Talk with Crush attraction inside The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion in Future World.

Magic Kingdom® Park

The Cinderella Castle Stage hosts a new show featuring classic Disney characters and newer favorites—Tiana from “Princess and the Frog,” Rapunzel from “Tangled,” and Anna and Elsa from “Frozen”—alongside Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy in Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire.

Disney Springs®

More than 30 new shops and dining venues open around the new Town Center, set to debut on May 15. This “neighborhood” joins the existing Landing, Marketplace and West Side, completing Disney Springs’ full waterfront expansion.
