Kennedy Space Center Unveils Heroes & Legends Exhibit Celebrating Astronauts

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has launched a brand‑new exhibit near Orlando.

At Kennedy Space Center, the new Heroes & Legends attraction honors the pioneering spirit that has driven America’s space program for more than 50 years. Located just a short drive from Orlando, visitors can now meet the astronauts who have journeyed into the final frontier and see the rockets that propelled them.

Space continues to spark humanity’s deepest questions. Only the most daring dare to seek answers by boldly venturing where no one has gone before. The Heroes & Legends exhibit, presented by Boeing and featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame®, celebrates the men and women who have devoted their lives to unlocking the universe’s mysteries. Using state‑of‑the‑art technology, the displays immerse guests in an interactive storytelling experience that stays with them long after the visit.

Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a stunning 360‑degree discovery bay that showcases the expansive universe of heroes. For example, the What is a Hero? exhibit examines how society defines heroism and highlights the early years of space exploration.

The Through the Eyes of a Hero 4D theater transports guests into the life of an astronaut, allowing them to feel the excitement, fear, and awe of the first crewed missions.

A Hero Is… is an interactive experience inspired by history‑making astronauts, each embodying nine core attributes: inspiration, curiosity, passion, tenacity, discipline, confidence, courage, principle, and self‑lessness. Memorabilia from the astronauts and the space program enrich these stories.

The Hall of Fame showcases 93 of the most heroic astronauts. Its entrance features a life‑size statue of Alan Shepard—America’s first astronaut and the sole Mercury pilot to walk on the moon. Visitors can capture a memento by posing with the Mercury astronauts.

These exhibits invite guests to step into a new realm of space, heroism, and timeless adventure.
