Top 3 Tips for a Relaxing Orlando Holiday
Whether you prefer a packed schedule or a leisurely pace, we returned home to the U.K. feeling refreshed after experiencing Orlando’s highlights. Here are the three key strategies that made our six‑day stay both enjoyable and rejuvenating.
- Don’t over‑plan. Identify a handful of must‑do attractions and fit them into your itinerary, leaving room for spontaneous moments.
- Schedule downtime. Insert a rest day between theme‑park visits to recover from the excitement, or spend a lazy afternoon by the pool.
- Explore alternatives. Complement the major parks with family‑friendly activities that are less crowded and equally memorable.
ICON Park®
Our evening at ICON Park® on International Drive was a perfect wind‑down after a busy day. The complex offers dining, entertainment and shopping, with highlights such as SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium and The Wheel (formerly ICON Orlando). A sweet treat at Outback Steakhouse followed by an ice cream at the park’s green space capped off the night.
Crayola Experience
Located at The Florida Mall® (®), Crayola Experience is a colorful, interactive venue where kids can release energy, escape the heat and get creative. It’s an ideal spot for parents to briefly step out while the children play, and then return for a shared adventure.

American Girl
American Girl® at The Florida Mall® lets young doll enthusiasts immerse themselves in play‑based storytelling. Dolls, accessories, and themed dining experiences are all available, and the store even lends dolls to those who don’t bring their own.
Headwaters of the Florida Everglades
To experience Florida’s wildlife up close, we headed to Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures. The guided tour through the Everglades’ headwaters offered sightings of eagles, herons, and alligators. Though the ride is intense and not ideal for very young children, the family loved the adventure. The park also offers a gemstone and fossil prospector station for a few dollars, where guests can uncover treasures such as amethyst and shark teeth.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
The hour‑long drive to the Kennedy Space Center on Florida’s east coast is worth it. Interactive exhibits, a 3D and IMAX film, a tour of the launch pad, a covered play area, and a splash zone ensure entertainment for all ages.
Universal CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort
After a quiet pool day, Universal CityWalk becomes a vibrant evening destination. With free parking after 6 p.m., families can enjoy a relaxed meal—Hard Rock Café® offers guitar‑shaped plates for kids—and take a break from the daytime park crowds.
We saw many more attractions that we couldn’t cover, but after six days we left Orlando feeling content, enthralled, and fully relaxed. We’re already planning our next visit.
