The Great LEGO Race Puts Kids in the Driver’s Seat
As the first VR coaster designed exclusively for children, The Great LEGO Race also marks the inaugural fusion of the iconic LEGO brand and its minifigure characters with virtual reality technology. Attractions Magazine reporter Banks Lee praised the ride for “great visuals on par with the LEGO movies.”
Located in the park’s LEGO Technic area, the attraction uses optional VR headsets that place riders in a world constructed from LEGO bricks. While the headsets are not mandatory, they elevate the experience, allowing kids to race against a roster of LEGO characters piloting imaginative vehicles—think a rocket‑powered windsurfing rig or a canopied litter carried by mummies. Riders must meet the height requirement of at least 42 inches to participate.
After crossing the finish line, head to the Funnel Cake Factory, just steps from the coaster. The venue—resembling a pit stop built from LEGO bricks—serves made‑to‑order funnel cakes with a wide array of toppings, including fresh fruit, powdered sugar, and soft‑serve ice cream. A perfect reward for completing the race!
