Discover Fresh Highlights at Dallas Zoo This Fall

Whether you’re visiting the Dallas Zoo for the first time or returning after a break, the fall season brings a host of exciting new attractions to explore. The zoo is also one of six destinations featured in the Dallas CityPASS booklet—your ticket to an unforgettable adventure.

See the Hippos

Meet Adhama and Biopelo, the newest hippos at the Simmons Hippo Outpost. Opened in April, this 2.1‑acre habitat boasts a 24‑by‑8‑foot underwater viewing window, letting visitors up close with these gentle giants. The hippos also roam the Wilds of Africa exhibit, and you can snap a photo in the hippo‑themed B&G set before you leave.

Experience a Day in the Life of a Junior Rancher

The Junior Rancher Adventure is a 75‑minute, hands‑on experience designed for kids ages 3‑8. Children get backstage access to the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo, working alongside keepers and caring for miniature longhorns, piglets, chickens, and more.

Baby Animals Galore

Witness the newest member of the giraffe family, Tsavo, who made his public debut in June. Born to beloved giraffe Katie, Tsavo can be seen in the Giants of Savanna exhibit. In August, the zoo welcomed two critically endangered Somali wild ass foals—born ten days apart—who now share the Wilds of Africa exhibit with emsbok, addax, and ostriches. And after 43 years, a lion cub named Bahati graces the zoo; he’s a must‑see for any visitor.

Explore the National Geographic Photo Ark

Discover 24 stunning images captured by National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore, who documents endangered species worldwide. The exhibit features giant canvas prints in the tunnel of the Giants of the Savanna exhibit, and 8‑foot‑tall kiosks display more than 50 of Sartore’s iconic photos. The collection is on display until October 1.
