Explore a White House Christmas at the George W. Bush Presidential Library
Ever wondered what holiday celebrations look like in the White House? The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum offers a unique chance to step into a White House Christmas. Each year the library stages a full‑scale holiday display for visitors to enjoy, running through January 7, 2018.
The 2005 theme, “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” highlighted nature’s beauty. The exhibit features lush flowers, vibrant murals, behind‑the‑scenes photos, and Mrs. Bush’s holiday dress, among other treasures.
Snap a photo beside the 18‑foot Blue Room Christmas tree—a faithful recreation of the 2005 White House centerpiece—adorned with over 500 white lilies, a sparkling glass‑bead garland, and crystal‑ball ornaments. In the courtyard stands another beautifully lit tree, decked with handcrafted ornaments from the Laura Bush Foundation.
The Bush Center also offers holiday history, music, and crafts. Expert docents share fascinating White House Christmas traditions, while visitors can join holiday‑craft sessions and community choir performances. Activities run every Saturday in December at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and noon.
