Discover the Pumpkin Artistry of Autumn at the Dallas Arboretum

Fall is a season that invites cozy sweaters, classic Halloween films, and breathtaking scenery. The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden brings the magic of autumn to life with its signature event, Autumn at the Arboretum, a must‑visit for families and pumpkin enthusiasts alike.

Every year, the Arboretum showcases over 90,000 pumpkins arranged in a vibrant display that celebrates the “Art of the Pumpkin.” Four intricately designed pumpkin houses capture the imagination of visitors—our 5‑year‑old was especially captivated until he discovered the exciting hay bale maze.

Guests can explore a dazzling variety of pumpkins, squash, and gourds that come in a spectrum of colors, shapes, and sizes—from classic orange to whimsical “witch‑wart” designs. If you spot a unique specimen, you can purchase it at the Gift Shop or the cart located across from Pumpkin Village to bring home a piece of the Arboretum’s harvest.

The garden remains in full bloom during the festival, with 150,000 autumn flowers enhancing the landscape. Stroll through thoughtfully curated floral beds and lush greenery, and you’ll find the park’s signature Fogelson Fountain and Water Walls especially delightful on a warmer fall day. The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden reopened on September 22, offering even more playful exploration for younger visitors.

When the little ones need a break, a range of dining options is available: Restaurant De Golyer, Café on the Green, the Lula Mae Slaughter Dining Terrace, and more. We found a quiet spot at the Grilled Cheese kiosk and enjoyed lunch in the nearby picnic area.

To maximize your experience, review the daily programming: live music on weekends, Owl‑O‑Ween on October 24, and the Family Fun Halloween blowout weekend (October 31 and November 1). Tickets should be purchased in advance, and arriving at least 30 minutes early will help you navigate parking and security lines efficiently.

Safety remains a top priority. The Arboretum has implemented enhanced precautions to ensure a secure environment for all guests, and our visit was smooth and enjoyable. With limited crowds and a focus on visitor well‑being, Autumn at the Arboretum delivers a memorable fall adventure for the whole family.
