4th Riverfront Jazz Festival Showcases Global Talent Over Labor Day Weekend
For those who appreciate the smoother side of life, the Black Academy of Arts and Letters proudly presents the 4th Riverfront Jazz Festival at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center during Labor Day Weekend.
The three‑day celebration brings world‑renowned performers spanning jazz, R&B, soul, blues, and neo‑soul, alongside emerging talent from Dallas‑Fort Worth schools and music programs.
The festival opens with a free pre‑festival concert on Thursday, September 2, at the AT&T Discovery District downtown. The evening starts with the vibrant sounds of New Orleans from The Big Easy Brass Band, followed by an energetic jam session featuring Dallas’ top vocalists and instrumentalists such as Jada Arnell, Jose Echevarria, and singer Dana Harper‑Moka.
On Friday, September 3, the official kickoff takes place on the VisitDallas Main Stage in the Convention Center Arena, where the Dallas Hot Band opens for Grammy‑winning legend Erykah Badu.
Saturday, September 4, expands across three venues—Visit Dallas Main Stage, Blues and Soul Main Stage, and the Promising Young Artists Stage. Highlights include drummer Pete Escovedo, saxophonist David Sanborn, and a roster of rising local artists, culminating with the "Mother of Hip‑Hop" Millie Jackson.
Sunday, September 5, concludes the festival with performances by pianist Keiko Matsui, singer Jeffrey Osborne, the SOS Band, and additional local talents, before Grammy‑winning trumpeter Terence Blanchard leads a set with select members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets start at $59 for single‑day general admission and $219 for a 3‑day VIP experience. For pricing, lineup details, COVID‑19 guidelines, and after‑party info, visit the Riverfront Jazz Festival website.
