Introducing Malika Dalamal: London-Based Writer, Editor & Travel Enthusiast

Introducing Malika Dalamal: London-Based Writer, Editor & Travel Enthusiast

Hometown: London.

Occupation: Writer and editor.

Favorite destinations: New York, Formentera, Amalfi Coast, Paris, Mumbai.

Dying to visit: Tulum, Tokyo, Sedona, Rio, Berlin.

Bizarre travel rituals: Stockpiling sandwiches in the airport.

In-flight relaxation regime: Watch a movie, read a book, eat a sandwich.

Always in carry-on: Ear plugs, iPad, magazines, chocolate, and a scarf.

Concierge or DIY? DIY followed by concierge and anyone else who will talk to me.

See it all or take it easy? See as much as I can and then take it easy.

Drive or be driven? Be driven. (I'm a great co-pilot/car DJ.)

Travel hero: Anyone that has to travel long haul with small children.

Weirdest thing seen on travels: South of the Border, the bizarre Mexican-themed rest stop on the I95 highway in South Carolina. We stumbled across it on an accidental road trip from Boston to Miami.

Best hotel amenity: Soft pillows and a bathtub.

I dream about my meal at Corte Sconta in Venice as Es Moli de Sal in Formentera.

Everywhere I go, I check out the local sweets.

When I arrive in a new place, I learn the lay of the land by buying a map and then usually getting lost and asking for directions.

I always bring home a souvenir fridge magnet.

If I never return to Detroit, it'll be too soon because it was cold, depressing, and the coffee was terrible.

I travel for the change of scenery and the sun.
