Before I Die: Interactive Art Wall Debuts in Downtown Lake Charles
"Before I Die" is a renowned global public art project that invites communities to share personal aspirations through non-destructive graffiti on a dedicated wall. Originating in New Orleans, it's now transforming downtown Lake Charles in Southwest Louisiana (SWLA). Visitors are encouraged to pen their lifetime goals on the wall. The installation officially opens on Friday, September 27th, marking downtown's first interactive art piece, located on the west side of 505 Bazaar at 314 Broad Street.
Longtime friends Charles Talen and Euric Fuselier, owner of 505 Bazaar, collaborated to bring this celebrated project to SWLA. Talen shares, "It's a fun way for people to reflect on what they want from life and draw inspiration from others' dreams." They plan to keep the wall up as long as the community enjoys it.
Launched in 2011 by artist Candy Chang in New Orleans following a friend's passing, "Before I Die" has inspired walls in over 50 countries and 20 languages, from Madrid, Spain, and Beijing, China, to Lisbon, Portugal.
