What sets Common Grounds apart? Signature homemade peach cobbler pies, classic Southern shrimp and grits, exceptional coffee, and outstanding customer service. You'll feel like a cherished guest, not just a customer. Owner Michele takes pride in fostering a warm, inviting atmosphere and often greets patrons personally when not in the kitchen.

Conveniently located at 619 Ryan St. in Downtown Lake Charles, it's perfect for a morning stop en route to work, casual meetups with friends, or unwinding after sightseeing.

Check out Matthew Z.'s glowing review:

"The only reason this place gets five stars is because Google won't let me give it ten! Wonderful atmosphere and the staff are second to none. I needed a place to sit and work on homework and attend a video conference, and Common Grounds was ideal! Michele and the crew are the best! Will definitely come back!"

As Michele shares, "Common Grounds serves as a light that warms the soul. It's where one can sit, exhale, and find peace." Bathed in natural light, guests can relax in the front conversation room with its small library.

Open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with potential extended Saturday hours coming soon.

Owner Michele Shares Her Inspiring Mission

"The mission is simple: to serve in as many ways as I can. I want to make your day and strive to make God smile. People seek something different—a place to freely share faith publicly. God called me by name over 30 years ago: 'Michele, go tell my people I'm coming soon.' At 21, I didn't understand, but retiring at 51, it became clear. Now, I embrace it fearlessly. My mother predicted I'd speak to people—I love connecting. Goals include supporting the overlooked, like my mentor program employing young people with autism. I see their brilliance and offer them dedicated spaces. It's more than a coffee shop—it's my calling!"
