This year, DeQuincy, Westlake, and Sulphur host captivating railroad exhibits. Westlake and DeQuincy welcome the Kansas City Southern (KCS) Holiday Express at the DeQuincy Railroad Museum on December 6 and 7, respectively. This festive six-car train delivers Santa Claus and his elves to communities across the KCS U.S. rail network. Visitors of all ages can meet Santa, tour three cars brimming with holiday displays, and enjoy the free, ticketless event open to the public. It's the perfect way to capture the wonder of The Polar Express for bright-eyed kids and families alike.
Beyond the festivities, the KCS Holiday Express supports the Salvation Army, providing warm clothing and essentials to children in need through annual charitable contributions.
DeQuincy isn't the only spot for train-themed holiday joy. In Sulphur, visit the Holiday House at the Henning Cultural Center during Christmas Under the Oaks at the Brimstone Museum. The Southwest Louisiana O Gauge Model Railroad Club showcases intricate models of the Hogwarts Express and Polar Express. This impressive two-level layout—34 feet long and 10.5 feet wide—features Sulphur storefront replicas, the Sulphur Mining Company, and detailed city scenes.
