As a coffee enthusiast, I was thrilled to discover Coffee:30, a spot that celebrates coffee at any time of day. Located at 127 W. College St. in Lake Charles, this new establishment has transformed the former Chez Caffe space into a modern haven. Featuring light faux wood flooring, deep turquoise walls with gold accents, a crystal chandelier in the lounge area, and a caramel-colored backsplash at the coffee bar, the ambiance exudes upscale sophistication that complements its gourmet offerings.

Owners Josh Smith and Shadi Abrusley invited us for an exclusive preview, showcasing signature dishes like their beignets—now proudly featured on the signage as Lake Charles' dedicated beignet destination.

Coffee:30 boasts a full kitchen with beignets, sandwiches, burgers, and a nod to the past with 'The 1997 Chicken Salad' (honoring Chez Caffe's opening year). Every menu item ties into the 'time' theme. Avocado toast is available, and burgers feature locally sourced beef from JVS Cattle in Sulphur. The exclusive coffee blend comes from Reve Coffee Roasters in Lafayette—'Reve' meaning 'dream' in French.

Beyond classic coffees, look forward to a mocktail menu with non-alcoholic innovations like bourbon barrel-aged coffee beans. Highlights included the decadent Affogato: vanilla ice cream with hot espresso and chocolate syrup.

Open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans to expand hours, Coffee:30 offers patio seating and future live weekend music. It's the ideal spot for business meetings, lunches, breakfasts, or a quick caffeine and sweet fix. Officially opened on August 31st!
