Nestled behind Crying Eagle Brewing Company in the Lake Area, South Beach Sports Bar & Grill offers a true beachside oasis. As I approached, the rustling palms evoked ocean waves, setting the stage for my meeting with Nikki Fontenot, who is leading the venue's exciting expansion.
Tucked at the rear of the property, the light blue cabana-style bar and grill features hanging lights, creating an inviting surf-shack atmosphere. Like many local businesses, South Beach navigated challenges from recent Southwest Louisiana events over the past 18 months. However, with a shared vision from partners and supporters, it's thriving with ambitious plans ahead. Nikki's track record of success in community projects inspires confidence in South Beach's future.
Ready for some volleyball? South Beach boasts nine deep sand volleyball courts that maintain optimal play even after rain, thanks to superior drainage and high-quality sand. The menu features crowd-pleasers like pulled pork sandwiches, cauliflower pizzas, and a full bar with frozen margaritas.
The goal is simple: provide a stress-free haven for exercise, socializing with friends and family, and unwinding.
Future enhancements include additional courts, a stage for live music, a two-story restaurant with a balcony overlooking the courts, and axe throwing. Current offerings beyond volleyball include adult dodgeball tournaments, spikeball, and cornhole events.
Host league play (8 weeks, three nights weekly), birthday parties, or corporate events. Casual play is $5 per person, or reserve a court for groups.
