Sunshine Seasons: EPCOT's Premier Vegan Options & Desserts

There are very few places that we can find a vegan quick service meal that also offers a vegan dessert. Luckily for us there is one spot at EPCOT that offers two vegan options and a dessert as well. This can be found at Sunshine Seasons, which is located inside The Land Pavilion (aka next to Soarin’).

One of the vegan options available can be found in the grab and go section of this quick service. During my last visit I opted to not get this. From others I have heard from over the years this Jackfruit Gyro sits and gets weird because of it being wet on a pita bread. I am not really into soggy wraps, so I have opted to just continue to not eat this. But if you want to try it, please let me know what you think.

Available at the Asian station you can find a Vegetable Korma. The last time I had this was several years ago as we found it bland and had no real desire to try it again. Since it’s been over 4 years since my last taste of this, I decided to give it another try.

The Vegetable Korma features vegan chick’n, cashews, carrots, onions, and cauliflower. It comes with a side of rice as well, be sure to note the plain rice and not fried since that one contains egg.

Just as before, this was still incredibly underwhelming to me. The korma flavor is the most mild (like you have to REALLY search for it) curry flavor. It is mostly just watered down and you can see it in the bottom of the dish as a watery curry. If flavor isn’t what you’re after, this dish is fine for a vegetable heavy option. The vegan chick’n in it was also good, but again, no strong korma flavor. I was really hoping my view on this would change, but unfortunately I will wait another 4 years to try this again.

Luckily the dessert here makes up for the lackluster entrees. The Cookies ‘n’ Cream “Mousse” is available at the dessert station. It comes with a lid on it so if you’re heading out of the park for the night and want a late night snack it’s perfect to take back to your resort.

This dessert is so rich, so for me I have to share it, which works because the cup is huge. The mousse is creamy, the chocolate flavor is strong, and the cookie crumbles are perfect. My last go at this had the cookie basically as crumbs, but this one was more chunky and I preferred it this way. I have also been told from a gluten free friend that you can get it made to order and it’s gluten free without the cookie bits. (Thanks Gina!)

So while I (still) miss the tamarind vegan beef stir fry at this location, and the vegetable sandwich they had for a while, I am grateful for this dessert. But I won’t be eating anything else from here until the menu gets an update.

Our month-long road trip last year was a blast but far too indulgent. We ate poorly, savoring Southern comfort foods that left us craving healthier options by the time we arrived in Chicago. As longtime vegetarians (not fully vegan), we made it a priority to visit as many as possible during our four-week stay. We enjoyed familiar favorites like veggie burgers and salads, plus ne
