Explore Authentic Food & Drinks on Agistri Island
Apart from fresh fish, you must try the local olive oil & olives, mousenta or mousounta (a type of local greens pie), and courgette pie (local name: laklori). Local sweet temptations include delicious loukoumades (fried dough with honey), votsalaki (a local marzipan), spoon sweets, and traditional pancakes.
Among the tasty island produce are green olives (called throumpes), capers, pine honey, and herbs such as oregano, thyme, sage and chamomile.
Last but not least, try the wines made from local grape varieties, and tsipouro (a strong spirit made from grape pomace in traditional stills).
