Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum: Celebrating Southern Textile Heritage
Northwest Georgia
Carrollton
The Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum (SQTM) showcases rotating exhibits of quilts and fabrics representing the South's rich textile and agricultural heritage. It is the only museum in the Southeast dedicated exclusively to textile arts, production and the craft and artistry of quilting. Located at 306 Bradley Street, just outside of Carrollton's Historic Adamson Square, the museum has been aptly placed in a re-purposed cotton warehouse. The exterior of the building is adorned with the work of nationally recognized sculptor, Gordon Chandler, who has generously loaned two of his "metal quilts" to the SQTM. While the current gallery is only a humble 20x24 foot room, the museum is working hard to expand.
